Human are very brave and optimistic, they have built some of the world’s greatest kingdoms.
Gnome Ideology
Submitted by tsirotek on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 18:37The gnomes are a race filled with genius gadget makers who originate from Gnomeregan, an underground city built into Ironforge Mountain, but were forced out from invading troggs who destroyed the city. Many survivors now live with the Ironforge Dwarves in Khaz Modan, devising strategies to get their city back. History suggests that the gnomes had their origins as a species of robots created by a titan call “the grand architect” in Uldual and that the transition from a mechanical to a fleshy species is a natural or expected process.
The Sin'dorei
Submitted by austin.orphan on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:48The blood elves, or Sin’dorei in Thalassian (blood elf speak), are a race composed of former high elves who renamed themselves to honor those who died after King Arthas and his Scourge army slew close to 90% of the total high elf population. With their sunwell destroyed, the new blood elves sought to drain magic from alternative sources to satisfy their need for arcane energy. Their addiction to draining magic corrupted the blood elves, thus they are generally regarded as an evil race.
Undead
Submitted by HannahReynolds on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:43In World of Warcraft, I am an undead Warrior. My mission in this game is to overthrow Lich King’s rule. Another one of my enemies is a human who seeks to purge the undead from the world. I am a warrior so I strive for perfection and am constantly working and very violent. The undead are a unique group, since most of them have once been living humans. After the transformation into the undead, many have abandoned their faith and religion, such as the holy light. Instead, we choose to put our faith in our queen and our dark science.
Dwarfs
Submitted by craig.jacko on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:43In the game, I am a paladin dwarf. As a dwarf, my race was created from the Earth. They used to spend a lot of time mining the treasures of the Earth, but have recently been called upon in the fight against the hoard. It has been said that the dwarves in World of Warcraft closely parallel the characters in Tolkien’s pieces as well as the original race in the Norse mythology. In WoW, my race is kind of a crazy race.
Tauren Hunter
Submitted by Scott.Reed on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:41I am a Tauren hunter. My ideology is that nature is the mother of the world and I have a deep faith in nature. I see no difference between nature and the hunt (much like Native Americans). I am also very confident. This is illustrated by my thriller like dance and my jokes one of which says, mess with a bull and you get the horns. My people are very brute and muscular and share my confidence. As a race we have never succumbed to our enemies. The Eathmother is our guide; if we honor her and never waste anything given to us by nature then we will be blessed in return.
Humans
Submitted by jason.wilson on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:39In the World of Warcraft, the humans are one of the bigger classes on the alliance side. They may have a shorter lifespan then other races, but their large population makes up for it. The humans are hard workers, wither it be in their studies of magic, or the large amount of physical training in order to be strong warriors. Their main city is Stormwind, which is always busy with people trading and buying new weapons and skills. Their dance shows a lot of confidence, as they do the disco, but when they flirt they act a little shy, backing away a little bit. From doing quests and talking to numerous NPC’s, the idea coming into to the game that the humans are so good and noble slowly changes. There seems to be something mysterious going on, with all the different quests I do as a low level and it also seems as though they are very lazy, willing to give away anything for you to do a simple quest for them.
My Character
Submitted by cdodier on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:39My character is a gnome, part of the Alliance. My character is a girl, and she is very short and has brown hair and fair colored skin. She has a big head and crazy hair. Gnomes are apparently very intellectual; however they lost their city due to a massive trogg invasion, so they don’t really have a place to live. They have speed altering effects, masters at technology, are very smart, and their engineering skills are constantly improving.
The Human Race
Submitted by mattsidran on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 15:34In World of Warcraft, there are many different races each with their own ideology and culture. The human race was once a well established society that was prestigious and noble. Now the human race is in a war on the alliance side. Humans by nature are aggressive and inquisitive. As a race they value virtue, honor and courage. Historically the humans have been involved in many brutal battles but their spirits are held up by their belief in the Holy Light. Their race tends to be naturally proud and ambitious but they can be arrogant and overly zealous.
World of Warcraft Is Addicting
Submitted by wenbo.dou on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 10:53World of Warcraft Addiction has already been a fact. According to data from some organizations, some experts’ research and some governmental policies, 40% of World of Warcraft players may be addicted. However, the players themselves think that the game can help them to learn cooperation, leadership, marketing and some other things necessary in real life. (Richford) Even thought the game has some advantages for player, it cannot be one of the elements to judge whether a player addicts in World of Warcraft or not. In the article “Addiction to MMORPGs: Symptoms and Treatment”, Dr.
Now that you've done some light research, is WoW addicting?
Submitted by richard.colby on Thu, 03/26/2009 - 10:09WoW is addicting
Submitted by HannahReynolds on Wed, 03/25/2009 - 23:20Most online multiplayer games are additive by nature. The fact that WoW is so popular and allows so many different people to play at once makes it that much more addicting. Due to World of Warcraft being essentially endless and the fact that it is constantly being altered also leads to a high a potential for addiction.
WOW addiction
Submitted by jason.wilson on Wed, 03/25/2009 - 22:16All three of these sites agree that World of Warcraft is in face addicting. The addiction to online gaming is very similar to that of substance addiction and can have the same problems. Many kids fail out of school, many relationships end, and many jobs our lost all due to an addiction to the MMORPG known as World of Warcraft. Over playing the game has lead to quite a few deaths, when people just can’t leave their computers or play so much of the game; they kill themselves to become apart of it.
World of Warcraft Addiction
Submitted by austin.orphan on Wed, 03/25/2009 - 21:32Massively multiplayer online role playing games, or MMORPG’s for short, can be quite addicting. Unlike other video games which entertain the player until it is beat, MMORPG’s are virtually never-ending and are based on character progression; such as leveling up or obtaining new armor/weapons. One such game is World of Warcraft, which has over 11 million subscribers worldwide; far above than that of its competitors.

WoW Players Not Addicts
Submitted by Nick.Deku on Wed, 03/25/2009 - 16:40Although compulsive video game players for games such as World of Warcraft may show symptoms similar to those shown by people chemically addicted, they are not addicts. Richard Wood argues in “Problems with the concept of video game ‘addiction’” that it is not the actual addictive properties of the game which cause people to play excessively, but rather a symptomatic response to other outside underlying problems they may wish to be escaping from (Wood).
Are computer games addictive?
Submitted by craig.jacko on Wed, 03/25/2009 - 15:43According to The Parent Report, “the excitement of video games makes playing them addictive” (The Parent Report) It suggests that it is not necessarily the video games themselves that are addictive, rather the excitement that they generate within the player that becomes addictive. Other scholars, like George Randall and Joe Ahn from Clemson University, suggest otherwise, claiming that a game like World of Warcraft is “inherently addictive,” since its primary focus is keeping people in the world to play collaboratively (Ahn, Joe and George Randall).
