Is WoW addicting?? ^^ v
“[World of Warcraft] is the most addictive thing that I have ever experienced.” --Matt Coon, Denison Class of 2008[1]
The Internet has a great impact on our lives. This man—Matt Coon was an honor student and received a full scholarship in Music in Denison. Things were going smooth except after he purchased the WoW. From then on, his life started to change, he spent most of the time playing but less time working on the school works. He skipped all the morning classes because he has been playing the WoW till 4 and 5 am everyday. Finally, he lost almost everything, scholarship, girlfriend, grades and so on. The game literally destroyed his career and lives. The power of the game can be constructive or destructive, it is important to learn about the game beforehand. [2] Another example of this is a coworker of Jeremy Reimer (the author) spent much of his time playing Wow, talking, dreaming about the game every minute, finally caused negative impact on his family and social life and ended up losing his job. Moreover, Dr. Maressa Hecht Orzack, a clinical psychologist at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts, has claimed that there are up to 40 percent of MMORPG players are actually addicted to the game. She feels like the game is the one that should take the blame, she thinks that the game itself needs a warning sign on the boxed just like cigarette boxed. The Doctor is not the only one who worried about the addiction; and also, the Chinese government limits the MMORPG players that spend too much time on Wow. In author’s opinion, the best solution for this is to take the awareness of the necessity in order to balance our lives. [3] Overall, the WoW game is addictive and causes a lot of problems.
