Computer Gaming Exercise

In World of Warcraft there are typically more males that play than females. According to our quantitative survey data 27 people were male, while only 9 were female. Of the 27 males they played much more than the females surveyed. The males played nearly 22 hours a week. The females played a mere 17.5 hours. Furthermore, males were found gaming more important to their happiness than school. The members surveyed were asked to rate both how important gaming is to their happiness, as well as how important their school was to their happiness.

Auction House Activity and Trends

    The auction house located in Orgrimar on the Dalvengyr server is a place full of constant activity. Frequently players of all races, classes, and levels could be seen inside. Commonly, a player would run up to an auctioneer, and spend a few minutes in front of them, followed by running back outside. After interviewing multiple players we found that a majority or the players that responded were selling items, while a few were simply browsing the selection.

World of Warcraft is Addictive

          Millions of people play the game World of Warcraft. According to an article written by James Ransom-Wiley, that number has now surpassed 10 million subscribers (Ransom). He states that this is “half the population of Australia.” So this brings up that everlasting question; is World of Warcraft addictive? To explore this question, we first must define what a gaming addiction is. Dr. Kimberly Young, of the Center for Internet Addiction Recovery defines it as
